Yes sir, may I help you?

Yesterday was my first day at work with the Billy Bombers crew at Bugis Junction. It was quite an experience, I must say. The moment I changed into their very thin and very translucent white shirt, I was being taught how to serve water (the proper way), set the tables, polish the tables, seats and cutlery, collect payments (either cash or credit cards) and finally, I had to memorise the table numbers.

Table 1 -6 are the gold seats, go on to Table 7, followed by 8, 9, 10, move front to 11, skip 12, go on to 13 and 15 etc.

I was the "gao shou" (expert) in polishing cutlery. Hahahaha!!! Lemme see, I think I did that chore at least 4 times last night. As compared to the rest who had to serve the customers, polishing knives, forks and spoons with boiling hot water was relatively chicken feet.

I love the way the crew respond to each other.

"Cash out!!!"

"CHEERS!"

"Table two zero dessert out!"

"CHEERS!"

"Bill for table one six!"

"CHEERS!"

Fun people. I noticed the Assistant Manager bore an uncanny resemblance to someone I used to know.

I wonder.......
