It's number 7!!

Agenda of the day (or so stated in the itinerary): Full day coach usage for community work

So what actually comes across your mind when you hear the term "community work"? I was thinking that maybe we'd be driven off to some village, each be given a broom/mop/feather duster and start cleaning whatever there is that needs to be swept/wiped/dusted.

BUT NO!!!!

Instead, we were taken to a village (a 3 hour bus ride!!) and we were greeted by the village chief who gave us a detailed talk about how life was in his village.
I must say, the people living there are a admirable lot. They live far away from the urban city and yet, they're able to have their own wireless network to enable their children to use computers.

Like, HELLO!!! Computers in a rural area?!?!

The chief (in yellow) during his talk... Tami mentioned that he's good-looking for his age. Gosh! She and her endless scandals!! =P

I so appreciate the PPT slides my lecturers use =)

A tour around the small (but very special) village

We had a really yummy lunch prepared by the locals and then it was the start of a gruelling 3km hike in the woods! (we were told that there was a reservoir in there and that's how villagers get their water. Hmm... fresh spring water eh?)

Able to spot the cute little pooch walking on the sandy path? Well, that new buddy of ours led us ALL THE WAY from the start of the hike till the end! Yes, it actually knows the way!

Reservoir with fresh, clean water

I named them Daisy and Isabelle (HAHAHAHAHA!!!)

See how clear the water is?

Didn't bother taking much pictures (of myself) because I was too exhausted. THE HIKE WASN'T A WALK IN THE PARK OK! And the best part was, Tami's afraid of the dog leading us... LOL! It would hide in the bushes and suddenly spring out on her when we walk pass. It's THAT smart!

I can almost hear the familiar "Ok, puppy! Go! Go in front of us!" as I sit here and type all these out... Gosh, I miss each and everyone of those people!

Happy Family?!

WAHAHAHAHA!!! Don't let your imagination run wild lah! The whole group of us sorta "forced" them to pose for this picture. Devils in disguise, we are!

ELEPHANT CONSERVATION CENTRE!!

This baby elephant's the first IVF elephant in the world! It's name is Ai.

Life wasn't all that smooth for the little elephant though. Because it's mother didn't get pregnant the usual way, when she eventually did give birth to Ai and it's brother, she hated them both because firstly, the delivery was a painful process and secondly, she didn't want the babies.

Guess what she did next?

She stomped on them both. Ai was rescued... but it's brother wasn't so lucky. Since Ai's mother was reluctant to keep her baby, elephant therapists decided to put Ai under the care of another female elephant.

Luckily for Ai, this other elephant was willing to care for him and treated him like her own young.

Told you I took pictures of EVERYTHING...

We had our usual evening shopping spree at the Saturday Market this time round. Bought a couple of stuff for the new house... but until now, Dad has yet to nail 'em up. RAH!

Dinner time at some italian restaurant afterwards... Sat at the same table as Nura & Mei Ping. We ordered a pizza each and shared it among ourselves... Hawaiian, Spicy Chicken and Tuna. Simply heavenly.

Those are Mei Ping's (newly) manicured nails..
